Introducing: Where Rhythm + Gravity Meet – Practice beyond the physical by GOING DEEPER
Going Deeper – and moving from a place beyond bones, muscles and even breath. Let it move you, it will and it is far more powerful that you can imagine.Amba Stapleton
The yogis define our body as having five layers or sheaths, each one contained within the other, like Russian Dolls. Called Koshas, these sheaths cover every aspect of our being, from the most gross to the most subtle.
When we practice yoga – whether it’s asana, pranayama, meditation, mantra, or even karma yoga – we are having an impact on one or more of these layers of the body.
For example, asana will primarily affect the grossest layer of Kosha, Annamaya. Of course, anything that affects one kosha will also affect the other koshas because there is no real separation between the layers. They are a conceptual method of understanding that allows us to make sense of our experience.
When you understand that the practice of yoga works to release blockages in the many layers of the body it helps you understand why sometimes we resist – strongly resist – our practice.
Those blockages in our body often hide fears and unexpressed emotions. Sure, yoga will make you feel great, but it will also make you FEEL.
Sometimes what we feel during or after yoga isn’t wonderful, and it helps to have a conceptual model to understand why this can be.

about the sama-set yoga class style
Sama-Set is a radical experience combining breath, body, meditation and relaxation.
Each month we will introduce a NEW Hatha Yoga sequence that enable students in deepening their yoga inquiry & understanding of the relationships of the energetic and physical bodies working together. This dynamic class embraces the teachings of Hatha and Raja Yoga merged and can change your life. It encourages us to look at deepening our understanding of how we connect to ourselves and our environment, moves us physically to strengthen and reduce tension, mentally calms and clarifies and emotionally releases and cleanses.
Students new and advanced can expect to leave feeling centered, balanced, refreshed and open with new tools to tap into the true expression of who they really are.
Included in each class:
- monthly theme/yoga posture focus
- pranayama (yogic breathing exercises)
- guided mediation (seated or reclined | 5-10 min each class)
- yogic philosophy
Why this style?
We need foundations. Theory can help us to create intention in our practice and then our experience integrates into our understanding. This class will deepen any students understanding of the yoga practice.
