Introducing: “Quiet | Digesting the Experience”
The Importance of Silence
Sometimes it’s not until we take a bit of time out and experience a slice of silence, that we actually realize how much we need it. In a fast-paced world, it’s so important to take a step back, breathe, look around and be grateful.
Here are some of the benefits of being silent:
- Emotional cleansing
- Creative ideas are formed
- Increases self awareness
- Improves memory
- Heightened sensitivity
How to digest your experience with reflecting on the elements
You have to digest every single experience you have. All the food you eat, all of your sensory input, and every social interaction must go through a process of transformation. If this doesn’t happen, the result is undigested food and experiences floating around in your physical and subtle body… wreaking havoc on your internal organs, hormones, adrenals, and emotional state {to name a few!}
Every single thing that enters through your eyes, mouth, skin, nose, ears and mind, from the moment of entry into your organism, must go through a digestion process whereby you assimilate is useful and release the waste.
From the Ayurvedic perspective, all transformational processes in your body and mind are attributed to fire. Fire is a single element, but is actually dependent on all the elements of creation for balance. Imagine a campfire ~ it is is hot and sharp, dependent on a stable structure, dynamic and full of movement, protected by the keeper of the fire, and requires space. So with this metaphor, let’s look at the main ingredients {space, movement, sharpness, protection and stability} of a healthy inner fire, in the hopes that you become a great digester ~ of food and experiences.
about the sama-set yoga class style
Sama-Set is a radical experience combining breath, body, meditation and relaxation.
Each month we will introduce a NEW Hatha Yoga sequence that enable students in deepening their yoga inquiry & understanding of the relationships of the energetic and physical bodies working together. This dynamic class embraces the teachings of Hatha and Raja Yoga merged and can change your life. It encourages us to look at deepening our understanding of how we connect to ourselves and our environment, moves us physically to strengthen and reduce tension, mentally calms and clarifies and emotionally releases and cleanses.
Students new and advanced can expect to leave feeling centered, balanced, refreshed and open with new tools to tap into the true expression of who they really are.
Included in each class:
- monthly theme/yoga posture focus
- pranayama (yogic breathing exercises)
- guided mediation (seated or reclined | 5-10 min each class)
- yogic philosophy
Why this style?
We need foundations. Theory can help us to create intention in our practice and then our experience integrates into our understanding. This class will deepen any students understanding of the yoga practice.
