prenatal yoga

drop-in weekly

Pre-natal yoga offers a nurturing and safe experience for pregnant women that is designed to promote the health and well-being of both mother and child. Classes include postures, breathing exercises and contemplations specifically chosen to ease a woman’s body and mind through each stage of pregnancy and prepare it for child-birth, while allowing an opportunity to focus on and cherish the new life within.

Thank you for remembering that your class time is 1 hour. While we understand that the social aspect is amazing, keep it to a respectable length as the teacher needs to wait for each of you before they can leave. (Maximum 30 minutes post class time please)

Frequently Asked Questions

If you cannot complete the 8 class card due to pregnancy complications, we will happily put your remaining classes on account to use for other regular scheduled Samatva drop-in classes. (these CAN ALSO be used for Baby & Me Yoga later). The 8 class card has a 6 month expiry otherwise and a fee is applicable to extend past this date. Alternately you can drop-in for $22 per session.
Not at all! Prenatal & Postnatal Yoga classes at Samatva run weekly and you can attend on a drop-in basis. We do, however have the option for you to prebook your space in any particular class. If you would like to reserve your space you must arrive 10 minutes before class or we may give it up to another waiting!
Yes you can! Your pass card is valid for 6 months from your first class. All passes can be used in both the pre & postnatal programs as well as regular studio drop-in classes. (please see BIRTH above for more info in our extension policy)
As with all drop-in classes at Samatva, we do require a minimum of 3 people to run a drop-in session. Grab your support to come along (they don’t need to be pregnant) and please remember we will do our best to assess class times and amend our schedule in these cases.
No you don’t! We are happy to welcome regular studio passes/memberships to be used to attend these specialty classes. As this is a premium practice, we will be requiring $4 additional each class for participants with a regular class card without pre & postnatal passes.

NOTE: Infinity membership holders attend without any additional fees.

I did my 200 hr teacher training with Don & Amba Stapleton, Yoga for Childbirth with Dorothy Guerra, as well as some amazing workshops and courses with Amy Ippoliti, Natasha Rizopoulos, Maria Garre, Seane Corn, Michelle Cormack, Paul Grilley and Michael Stone. I practice to create space both inside of my physical body as well as my mind. I practice to bring more awareness, connection and clarity into every thing that comes to me. I practice because no matter what state I'm in when I arrive on my mat, I always leave feeling so good, so alive.

Yoga is a powerful practice as it has the ability to calm and focus both the mind and body and practicing it makes one feel great. It can also be done by anyone, anywhere. In a class, I like to create a welcoming and non-judgmental space where people can practice. I also like to share the physiological benefits of yoga along with the connection between breath and pose.

A little voice inside my head told me that I just had to try yoga. And once I listened, there was no going back. Yoga has brought a sense of connection and balance to every part of my life: physically, emotionally, intellectually and spiritually. Everything's better with yoga! I teach because it is my way of giving back and sharing what yoga has given to me. My hope is for all people to accept themselves in the packages that they come, to find a deep love and acceptance of who they are, good and bad and to find the strength to heal that which needs to heal. And to be given a forum to spread that message, to be given an opportunity to connect and share loving energy with so many amazing people, what a lucky ducky I am!

Practicing yoga helps me to maintain a much-needed sense of balance between myself, my interests, my being in the world, and my interactions with others. Life is yoga. I’m grateful that my study and practice of yoga has taken me to such wide ranging locations as Hollyhock - Canada's Lifelong Learning Centre on Cortes Island, British Columbia and Kripalu Centre for Yoga and Health in Stockbridge, Massachusets. I have studied with such renowned instructors as Seane Corn, Bo Forbes, Michael Stone (Centre of Gravity), Sadie Nardini, Jovina Chan (Kripalu) and Burt Peters.I’ve also had the pleasure of teaching classes in various locations in Ontario, Victoria, Cortes Island - British Columbia, and Kingston & Wolfe Island.
